Shop Apron

In my intro to costume construction class, our final project was to make a shop apron using a pattern given to us that had to include at least two pockets and five different embroidery stitches. Everything else was up to our own design.

Process

Process:

  • I sewed the lining and front panel to the waistband but not attaching the two panels so I could embroider the apron and hide the back of the embroidery.
  • I embroidered the outer part of the pocket so I could add a backing to hide the back of the embroidery.
  • I added a loop that is attached with a snap to the waistband so it can hold my donut-shaped pincushion.
  • Once everything was attached, I close up the edges with a biased binding.

What I would change:

  • One comment the teacher gave me that I did not know and will use later on is when using contrasting thread, use a longer stitch so it looks intentional.
